Is it possible, at this point, to have an uncontested election? I think many of us believe not. I cannot think of an homologous situation that demonstrates so well a hole in what the Founding Fathers put together as a democratically representative republic ... Maybe they recognized the likelihood of blatant lying to a population that was made up -- in part -- of minorities of illiterates and with other minorities of frightened people and others of bigoted people ... Maybe they didn't. Well, one more frightened person can be added to the ranks, I suppose. At this point, what are the possible outcomes?... ...
I. Trump wins the Presidency, a man who half the country feels is incompetent to the task, rude, talks of himself as and talks as would a serial sexual predator, someone who is on tape saying that he doesn't respect women, has the right to grope them, was born with intellectual gifts like a big vocabulary (though estimates are in the range of a pre-schooler), more or less a eugenicist on tape, and a man who feels he alone has the answers to what ails us. By winning, he maintains the majorities in the House and Senate and appoints 1-3 Supreme Court Justices who half the country fears will embolden Citizens United to the level of an Oligarchy. More than half the country sees the election as having been prompted by the actions of an FBI Director who, at the very least, made serious errors, in defiance of the Head of the DOJ.
II. Sen. Clinton wins the Presidency and brings along a slim majority in the Senate with a slight and insignificant change in the balance of the House. The House continues throughout her Presidency to be the obstructionist voice it has been for six years.
IIa. The Senate with "the 60 vote rule" continues to block appointments to the Supreme Court.
IIb. Clinton and her allies opt for the Nuclear Option and move appointment "Consents" to the Simple Majority category. Little less than half the country sees the election as having been rigged by the actions of cheating people in the inner cities who, at the very least, stuffed the ballot boxes or misreported results.
III. Sen. Clinton wins the Presidency and the House and the Senate remain with Republican majorities. The House and Senate continue throughout her Presidency to be the obstructionist voice they have been for six years. The Senate continues to block appointments to the Supreme Court and the Lower Courts and to Departments in charge of executing the People's Will. Little less than half the country sees the election as having been rigged by the actions of cheating black and brown people in the inner cities who, at the very least, stuffed the ballot boxes or misreported results.
OK ... OK ... There must be other possibilities ... but, right now, I can't see the ,,,
A NEW ERA
"Uncle Sam wants you." Most of us remember the posters of Uncle Sam Pointing his finger to the youngsters we once were who would go out to war after learning in what was called Basic Training to kill those others who are nothing like the rest of us Red Blooded Americans. Alt-White ...
But for now, I wake each morning troubled by the rage I experience in myself and in the culture, at large, thinking about the hateful rhetoric among the politicians and the electorate that has bathed me and all that I know for 18 months. I -- at the moment -- cannot imagine ever being free of the impact of the venom and vitriol that have come from the mouths of so many, myself included in these blog-postings. I, sometimes, think it like the early 30's in Germany ... sometimes, more like the middle and later years. The air is full of hate.
This blog that sought to mirror that gratuitous enmity that I felt filling the ether, itself, mocked Trump and his minions ... in their mockery of anyone who would stand in their way. I was and still am willing to "dis" those who live in Trump's worldview. I presented him as a scary, dangerous and narcissistic clown who was more like the Adolph Hitler of those 1930's. Damn. I even tried to write to Ivanka Trump about the difference between Dad's rhetoric and the Jewish path she had chosen to live by.
Seven or so days remain ... and nothing has changed for me and I am, indeed, more frightened than ever.
I'm listening in the background to a bombastic newscaster (Java Joe) as he interrupts people ... I remember his counterpart (Chris M), last night ... the rudeness. Java Joe may be telling people that it's just scare tactics by the lunatics on the Left. Java Joe says it's all fear-mongering; nobody's gonna show up with their AR-15's and expanded clips ... open-carrying their Second Amendment Rights.
Scary ... A Little Rich Kid grows up to believe that everything he says is important ... he convinces 60,000,000 voters that he has all the necessary answers. He convinces 30,000,000 of them that if he isn't appointed emperor, cheating has occurred.
Talk me down, Someone ... Right now ... Bottom line, Guys ....
