Do You Hear What I Hear on our National Day of Gratitude

I thank you Lord, Anima Mundi or Whatever Spirits May Be for the opportunity to have lived here in the United States under the years of Democratic Rule. My people, like others, came from difficult situations and persecution. Thank you for that ... I feel Deep gratitude on this day that celebrates thanks ... Thanks for the goodness ... for the safe harbor ... for protection from tyrannical rule by despots. You have given me a place to live myself and to participate in the raising of my children-3 and grandchildren-6.

The predictions of autocratic rule are coming to pass, I fear. The Reagent has announced that he will choose the inexperienced to reign over the People. An Old Trick to keep the power close to the throne. He has chosen folk who cannot stand up to his Highness in his Gilded Palace and Robes. People with no experience in foreign affairs will run interference diplomatically with other states ... autocratic and democratic. It is my sense, however distorted, that each person in the parade of clowns who have come to one of the Kng's Summer Residences was escorted in, required to falate the Little Blonde-Haired Boy Who Would Be King, i.e., was humiliated, and then led out "don't call us, we'll call you" style.

Donnie-Boy then announces on a Day Before Thanksgiving that he is above all others ... He can be accused of no conflicts, as he IS the state. When Cromwell accused a King of crimes against the state, he laid a foundation for future democracies, even of England. When Donnie tells that he can use the Crown to increase his own wealth and his House of Lords Parliament stands by him, we are -- there's no other way to say it -- fucked. The God and decent patriots on the Right will, I suspect, be purged. Those who have been promised Pie in the Sky of returning jobs in a World Econmy that has changed and will no longer easily support the Post-WW2 boom that allowed Detroit to provide a wage sufficient for the two cars and the house in the burbs ... those honest and decent people will be humiliated as much as the Mitt Romneys who have come to kiss the King's ring or to suck on his  Sceptre. How sad!

The good religious people who open the doors of the church each day on their Sabbath will feel
shame that they were duped by one of the False Prophets which the Testaments foresaw. The Ohio
Governor who believed in the American Way that he learned from his Postman Dad's decency will be purged. Who knows? Maybe Hard-Heads like Texas Ted will adapt. ... Still ... Muslims who came looking for Democracy will be Registered. Muslims who came to carry out Jihad will be vindicated. Those who fight in the Middle East, Africa and Asia will feel equally comforted that, indeed, the West's promise of Christian Solicitude, Kindness to the Stranger and Orphan and Widow and Disabled, equal protection under the law, .... all the promises of at the very least one of the greatest experiments in egalite et fraternite were bullshit. Our Ethic replaced by Reflections in a Pool.

I received a response to a posting this morning from two people whom I don't know. They said my rant was misplaced ... nonsense ... foolish ... Time will tell.

I responded: I hope you're right, Mr. Callesen and Mr. Bernstein ... I hope you're right ... I may be just an old man Mis-hearing when DJT says that he is above the charge of conflict of interest as President. Maybe you heard his words differently and would offer me the kindness of parsing them (his words about him, as President, being beyond the charge of conflict of interest)  so that I can tell my gathered grandchildren-6 that Next Thanksgiving will be just like this one ... for all Americans ... be they well or sick ... rich or poor ... sprintly or disabled ... or from any of the three great religions that populated cities like Córdoba in peace in the 13th Century.

Let me close by saying that I would be quiet and still if I thought Herr Drumpf but a Bully in a China Shop ... but, justified or not, I experience him more as a Hydrogen Bomb fused and ready-to-go in the presence of people and institutions that I love.

A very brief expression of thanks to my President from a Citizen Therapist ... no Senator ... no Prince ... just a guy who grew up in Bernie's Brooklyn and was graced, in our Country, to make a life for himself, his wife of 51 years, and their curious spawn.

Mr. Obama ... You have brought dignity to the Office of President of the United States and many are those, in my estimation, who respect and admire your decency and your respectful and reflective ways of thinking and being on this National Day of Gratitude. I'm one citizen but wish to say that those who gather around my youngest's, my daughter's Thanksgiving Table, today, will be forever in your debt for the past eight years during which time we have felt you represented us to ourselves and to the World as worthy of seeing each and every one of us as People in Our Own Right ... with our own devotions ... with our own ways of thinking ... and praying ... and loving. And our admiration for you extends to the First Family that you and Michelle have shared with us.

We love you, Man!
