Political Correctness and Journalistic Correctness

Where is William Buckley when we need him? Oh, we have our Krauthammer's and the 50 well-placed Republicans who are speaking their truths about their Party's nominee, even if their Truths often differ with mine. But Buckley's naked truths independent of party-line positions often worked for me ... even now years after he died:

"Look for the narcissist. The most obvious target in today’s lineup is,
of course, Donald Trump. When he looks at a glass, he is mesmerized
by its reflection. If Donald Trump were shaped a little differently, he would compete for Miss America. But whatever the depths of self-enchantment,
the demagogue has to say something [to voters].
So what does Trump say?
That he is a successful businessman
and that that is what America needs in the Oval Office.
There is some plausibility in this, though not much.
The greatest deeds of American Presidents —
midwifing the new republic; freeing the slaves;
harnessing the energies and vision needed to win the Cold War —
had little to do with a bottom line."
(William Buckley (reportedly) c. 2000 in the Cigar Afficianado)

Compare the above with the following thin questioning of Herr Drumpf's platitudes in Newsy's blast from two days ago ... comments typical of all the major news outlets ... (my brief thoughts follow in Red, coming out from "whatever and wherever" in me.)

"The billionaire's inability to let critiques or personal slights
pass by without bringing them up again and again has been
a persistent theme of the campaign. Trump's detractors
say this is detrimental to his campaign and will send
his rival Hillary Clinton straight to the White House."
But Trump's trying to reassure people his approach is going to
work out fine and says he wants to "maximize the time" left in the race.
You see it with the fight with a Gold Star family who criticized
him at the Democratic National Convention. Or when, the
day after he accepted the nomination, he renewed a
conspiracy theory about Ted Cruz's father maybe having
something to do with the JFK assassination instead of laying
out his vision for America. You see it with the fight with a Gold
Star family who criticized him at the Democratic National
Convention. Or when, the day after he accepted the
nomination, he renewed a conspiracy theory about
Ted Cruz's father maybe having something to do with
the JFK assassination instead of laying out his vision for America."
And he's warned us, calling himself a counter-puncher who responds
"pretty strongly." And that works as a brash host of a reality show
or even during a Republican primary. But this is the general election,
and as the most unpopularmajor party nominee in polling history,
there may come a time
when his version of "going full blast" may not work out.
Notice the willingness of Buckley to speak his truth without what the Clown calls POLITICAL CORRECTNESS. Buckley does, indeed, call it "like it is," as the Clowns' supporters claim we all should do. Newsy is, in contrast, typical of the journalistic neutrality that not once comes out and labels Herr Drumpf's rhetoric as vacuous politicizing but reports it, instead, as if it were another not-unreasonable position to be held by reasonable folk. Some indication of the emptiness of these promises woulda been in order but the silliness of the popular Media refuses to say that if it looks like shit, smells pungent, and flushes like human waste, chances are it's not Pâté de Foie Gras

Then there's Drumpf's reassurances? Mr. Trump's 'Believe Me's' just don't cut it for those of us who make it beyond the adolescent phase of:

"Mom, Dad, Trust Me ... I did my homework ...
The teacher musta lost it or the dog ate it or I was teleported by aliens ...
How am I to know which."

Ach du Lieber! I live in a Country where a vocal minority is ever-willing to blame President Obama for -- in the name of Political Correctness -- not using three particular words (Radical Islamic Terrorism) while its Fourth Estate indulges a form of Journalistic Correctness that keeps it from calling an ill-Prepared and Lying Bleach-Blonde Bull-Shitter on the emptiness of his rhetoric.

Well, Donald ... Little Rich Kid from Suburban Queens who Cannot Take a Punch without Whining ... this Old WHITE Man from the Deep South, from South Brooklyn -- in the most cavalier of fashions and stripped of all Political Correctness in showing some deference to those Drumpf has duped -- calls it for what it is:

BULLYING BULL-SHIT
THAT MUST NEVER REACH
OUR NATION'S BULLY-PULPIT!
AMEN!
